National Gallery of Modern Art

All of the Edinburgh galleries are ace but the Modern Art Gallery gets a special mention because the walk there is so nice and gives you a great overview of different bits of the New Town.

Edinburgh's modern art gallery is split across two building, Modern 1 and Modern 2, which are across the road from one another. You can do a really picturesque walk there from the centre of town and there's also a lovely cafe.

The map below shows the walking route that we'd recommend. There's a free bus shuttle between the National Gallery on Princes Street and the Modern Art Gallery so you can save time (and your legs) by walking one way and getting the bus the other.

it's on st stephen street, about halfway along, so if your flagging in the cold a swift 'Who dares wins' (Beefeater gin, fresh lemon juice, home made orgeat & wolfschmidtt kummel) would do the trick.
