Basics:
- Tesco Express - just round the corner from the flat!
- Tesco Metro - a 10 minute walk and much better stocked than the Tesco Express
- Sainsburys - about a 2 mile drive, a proper supermarket for doing a bigger shop. NB this is inside the Cameron Toll shopping centre.
Fun Food Shopping:
- Jordan Valley - unusual ingredients from all over the world with an emphasis on middle eastern ingredients and health-foods
- Basmillah Food Store - mainly Pakistani / Indian foods but also unusual ingredients from other cuisines. Incredibly cheap fresh herbs (you'll get a huge bush of parsley / corriander for 50p) and also a wide range of dried herbs and spices. Great for things like mustard / coconut oil or 10kg bags of rice!
- Hing Sing - big (for Edinburgh) Chinese supermarket, stock up on huge vats of soy sauce and dried shrimp.
