Quatermile is the name given to the redevelopment of the old Royal Infirmary on the edge of the Edinburgh Meadows.
It's worth checking out for the mix of modern and traditional architecture and to see how they've gone about creating interesting sight-lines and a village feel with a network of small streets.
It's on the edge of the meadows: a huge, well used, green space right in the heart of the city.
Peters Yard is a good stop for food and coffee and Looking Glass Books has a coffee shop as well as the books.
